The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games were originally scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020. However, the global pandemic of the new coronavirus caused it to be rescheduled. The sporting event of the year takes place from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

Tokyo will become only the fifth city in history to return to the Olympics. It will join Athens, Paris, London and Los Angeles. In the past, the Olympics were held in Tokyo in 1964, the then Czechoslovak team brought fourteen medals.

At the Games XXXII. the olympics will be changed by 339 medal sets, baseball and softball will return to the program, and new sports will include sport climbing, karate, surfing and skateboarding. The organizers have also used some athletes since 1964, a total of 33 facilities will compete. In October 2019, the International Olympic Committee decided that the marathon and the walking race were taking place on the island of Hokkaido in Sapporo due to fears of high temperatures.
